We consider people to be good or bad based on our own observations and experience of life. Think of the best managers you have ever known or worked for. Describe in details the reasons you have identified him or her as such and what s/he had done that was good/bad?
It is simple and naive to remain in our own comfort zone, and judge "who" is good or bad.
To err is human. Instead of "thinking inside the box," it is more effective in terms of people development perspective to "think outside the box."
"What is his/her reason behind such decision? How did it affect the results?" It is more productive to focus on the "WHAT" and "HOW" instead of "WHO." It is also unfair to put the blame on one person when things go wrong especially in a world where collaboration counts.
People management is both an art and science, because people are both emotional and rational. The regrettable and inevitable fact that the chemistry between two persons is not good does not imply that either one party is good or bad.
The business maxim that "All customers are not created equal" can also apply to the management world. It is important to realize and acknowledge that everyone is different, and that individual difference is just a fact of life. Instead of forming unnecessary bais against individual who does not "think, act, behave" alike, it is going to be more rewarding to foster a harmonious work environment by appreciating individual difference.
It is time to kill "pride, ego and arroggance." As Peter Drucker says, "Results are obtained by exploiting opportunities, not solving problems."
Focus on "WHAT" and "HOW," and it will deliver the 1+1=3 impact in the long run.

港股昨日屬於「內困日」，恒指及國指的高低位，均在周二波幅之內，屬於等待變化的格局。所等者，一來是今天期指結算，二來是昨晚及今晚聯儲局主席伯老在美國國會的發言。等待過後，估計港股向上的機會較大。
目前恒指（圖1）、國指（圖2）及上證綜指（圖3）均仍受制於阻力綫之下，這組阻力綫，全都是由去年12月低位及今年2月初高位引伸而成，上破此綫，可以有較大的反彈。
不才仍然估計，恒指短期會在19800至20800之間牛皮上落，如有較大利淡消息，則下試19400區，如有較大利好消息，則上試21200區。不過，再過幾天便是3月，亦即進入業績期，恒指如能上破圖中的阻力綫，則上文所估計的上限波幅，亦即是21200區，便有機會上調800點至22000區。
相對於中港股市，美股近期走勢似乎較佳。從圖4可見，道指已經突破了2月初高位（恒指、國指及上證綜指仍未突破），周二的下跌，有可能只是一次借勢調整，屬於技術性「後抽」。道指較強，顯示市場對於美國退市、加息的看法，並不太過擔心。中港股市走勢遜於美股，相信與市場更加擔心內地退市有關。
在虧轉盈股中尋寶
在牛皮市況之中，不才維持小注短炒的看法。去年不少細價股受惠於業績改善而大升10倍以上，這批大升股今年很難重複去年升勢。相反，去年上半年仍然虧損，下半年大幅改善，今年有望盈利大增的細價實力股，將成為今年的焦點，股價隨時以倍數上升。大成生化（00809）有可能是這類股，可以留意。

Who Cares About Rules? Beta
According to the MTR, there are certain rules to observe in order to ensure a safe and comfortable journey. Some important but always ignored ones are listed below.
1. Please move into the bus compartment after boarding.
2. Please do not obstruct the staircase or doorways.
3. Please hold on to the handrails while standing.
4. Please offer your seats to the senior citizens, disabled persons or pregnant ladies.
There are rules to almost everything. However, people always relax rules governing themselves. They care less about how others feel and what others think.
As Mahatma Gandhi put it, "there are limits to self-indulgence, none to restraint." When will people learn to respect others through respecting themselves?

Professor: You are a Christian, aren't you, son?
Student: Yes, sir.
Professor: So, you believe in GOD?
Student: Absolutely, sir.
Professor: Is GOD good?
Student: Sure.
Professor: Is GOD all powerful?
Student: Yes.
Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn't. How is this GOD good then? Hm?
(Student was silent.)
Professor: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fella. Is GOD good? Or is Satan good?
Student: No.
Professor: Where does Satan come from?
Student: From... GOD...
Professor: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student: Yes.
Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And GOD did make everything. Correct?
Student: Yes.
Professor: So who created evil?
(Student did not answer.)
Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don't they?
Student: Yes, sir.
Professor: So, who created them?
(Student had no answer.)
Professor: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son... Have you ever seen GOD?
Student: No, sir.
Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?
Student: No, sir.
Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted your GOD, smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any sensory perception of GOD for that matter?
Student: No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.
Professor: Yet you still believe in HIM?
Student: Yes.
Professor: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student: Nothing. I only have my faith.
Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem science has.
Student: Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Professor: Yes.
Student: And is there such a thing as cold?
Professor: Yes.
Student: No, sir. There isn't.
(The lecture theater became very quiet with this turn of events.)
Student: Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don't have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.
(There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.)
Student: What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?
Student: You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light... But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? In reality, darkness isn't. If it is, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?
Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man?
Student: Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Professor: Flawed? Can you explain how?
Student: Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student: Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?
(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.)
Student: Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?
(The class was in uproar.)
Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain?
(The class broke out into laughter.)
Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?
(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable.)
Professor: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.
Student: That is it sir... Exactly!
The link between Man and GOD is FAITH... That is all that keeps things alive and moving.

Roger Federer Beta

Someone says if tennis were a religion, then Roger Federer would be God.
It is indeed a fact. Because of Federer, a lot of people get back into tennis. People go to watch tennis because of him. However, is that history now?
On 18th August 2008, his record 237 weeks at number one finally came to an end. Federer no longer dominates tennis, but what lasts? Nothing, especially when you've been at the top of the world for long time. Everyone wants to be the best. Being top dog, perhaps, is one main motivation in life. But, it is difficult for an individual to maintain best performance forever. After all, an individual is all alone. Unlike a company, it is made up of people. A company can maintain its power and sustain its growth for many years, or even decades. Because they work in teams, with everyone supporting each other. Federer? He's only human...
He may not be the greatest tennis player yet in terms of the number of grand slams won, but he's definitely one of the greatest tennis players.
Today, Roger is no longer the world's best... in terms of ranking. Nadal, his arch-rival, replaces Roger as number one; but Fed will reverse his below-par performance and regain his number one ranking in 2009.
Thank you Fed... you have done more than enough. It's time for you to take some rest.
"That's what I expected and hoped for many years ago when I got to number one, that if ever somebody were to take it away from me, he would have to play an incredible tennis schedule, win the biggest tournaments, dominate the game basically, and then like this he can take number one." The Legend - Leslie Cheung
Known affectionately as "Gor-gor," Leslie Cheung Kwok-Wing, was one of the Chinese-speaking world's most popular artists. Time magazine's Richard Corliss called him, "James Dean with a mean streak, a deeper Johnny Depp."
Born in Hong Kong in 1956, Gor-gor rose to superstardom as a singer with a bad-boy image in the 1980s. He followed up his musical successes with a distinguished film career - often in homosexual roles, which are uncommon in Chinese-language movies.
Leslie announced his retirement in 1989, but he picked up the microphone again in 1996. During his 1999 Passion Tour, Leslie grew his hair to waist length and performed in skirt and red high heels. Although It was bitterly critized by Hong Kong media, the Tour was a huge success.
On 1 April 2003, when many people were playing April Fool's jokes, the legend leapt from the 24th floor of the Hong Kong Mandarin Oriental Hotel. He died at the age of 46.
Leslie's death is the end of an era: one of vanity, youth-worship, image-consciousness, self-indulgence, innocence. It is also an end to, as one of Leslie's best films is entitled, Days Of Being Wild.
Even today, there are few who can equal Gor-gor. He has truly left an indelible mark in the world of entertainment.
Leslie is the most widely adored and admired male diva of the late 20th century. He is forever a legend.

If relationship is an investment, then invest wisely. Otherwise, it will result in negative touchpoint experience, and eventually end up in touchpoint chain termination. The more the touchpoint, the deeper the relationship. When the chain is terminated, nothing much can be done.
First positive touchpoint experience should not be used as final judgment to determine whether the relationship is going to be short- or long-term. It is a wrong decision to commit everything based on the first few touchpoints. People usually are inconsistent overtime because of the need to adapt to change. They do not have the ability to wear the mask forever. When they are accepted, they tend to loosen up. Nothing can hide. The truth will be revealed.
Pause... before impossible is nothing. Act... when everything seems possible.
Positive touchpoint experience is really about doing right things right at the right time.

As long as the show is entertaining, they'll just love it. Politics does nothing to help improve the economy's performance, but can do everything to hinder economic growth. But how is politics related to food?
Snacks are nothing but junk foods. Junk refers to things with almost zero value. It is usually created and developed with no specific meaningful objective in the first place, which further explains why the deliverable is junk. Another reason is that the deliverable is not of relevance to the receiver. When the deliverable is not relevant, it simply has no value even though it may possess enormous economic importance. That's junk.

The poor owner of Tai Cheong Bakery Mr Au Yeung never stops taking the opportunity to shine shoes in the hope of getting market attention, and Patten never stops trying to milk his last-dime from the old colony.
Mr Au Yeung may have adopted a wrong marketing strategy. Patten is not a food critics, and his taste doesn't represent the taste of others. After all, he is a westerner, and has different taste buds. It's pathetic that Fat Pang didn't have any egg tarts during his recent visit to promote his books Not Quite the Diplomat because he was "too fat".

Einstein on Success

Success is the root of future failure. The love of success is the root of discruption.
Success usually belongs to the winner. When one wins, the rest loses. Who wants a draw game?
Success by nature is to be achieved at the expense of others.
If success is everyone's goal in life, let not be reason for living, then how can touchpoint experience excellence be achieved, given that positive people touchpoint experience won't even exist.
Is win-win situation a myth then?
However, there are two types of competition: positive which encourages long-run improvement, and negative which ends up in disharmony. For positive competition, although failure is inevitable, it is the root of future success.
Cooperative competition is known as coopetition.

國恥
「床前明月光，疑是地上霜，舉頭望明月，低頭思故鄉。」
現代人都是善忘的。小時候耳熟能詳的一首詩，長大後也許都忘了其意義。令大部份人牽腸掛肚的，都是些男歡女愛、山盟海誓、同性相拒、異性相吸、假情假意、不知所謂的鎖碎事。
思鄉愛國之情，已變得不合時宜。
總認為，保釣反日大喊愛國口號並不是什麼有價值的愛國行為。倒不如踏實，做一個安守本份的中國人，學好正確使用筷子吧。
中國是筷子的發源地，是世界上以筷為食的母國，就連老外，也得學會其挑、撥、夾、拌、扒等之法來進食。但遺憾的是，很多華人已懶得去維護自己的餐具，忘了如何正統使用筷子，而這一切，卻是這麼的理所當然。
早陣子的一個飲食節目，堪稱有中醫背景的女主持人，就是一個不會正確使用筷子的人。
這是多麼的諷刺，但又是多麼的可悲。
諷刺，是一個飲食節目連基本功都忽略了。只講求技巧，卻不重視基礎，是現今大部人的毛病。
可悲，是主持人不尊重中國文化、不尊重觀眾。作為傳播媒體，在某程度上也要背上社會責任。
但什麼是責任? 恐怕無人有閒情逸致去關心。
這些接觸點，都是不經意的，但卻能無事化小，小事化大。
以點帶面，就是接觸點的神奇。
醜人多八怪
這也許是一種社會自然現象。因為醜，所以要弄些新意思，突出自己，以求鶴立雞群，惹人注意。
目標清晰，也容易達到。但效果是否理想，則見仁見智。
今日乘坐公共巴士的時候，在逼不得已的情況下，再次受到「垃圾廣告」的轟炸。垃圾，是因為沒得我同意便強要我接受，如同其它戶外廣告。
四方盒內播於著的，是一個介紹流行手機鈴聲的節目。本來音樂是無國界中立的語言，應較容易接受，那節目主持人……嗚呼！
不知所謂的髮型，儘管是由紅變黑了，但仍是予人煩厭的感覺。眼，為靈魂之窗。髮腳與眉毛只是一線之差，實在搞不清那種模糊關係。可能是這個原因，其眼耳口鼻便無一吸引。殘酷點說，根本就是面目可憎。
這，就可算得上失敗了。
感覺不好，便影響了對這種廣告媒體的看法，繼而推進到對戶外廣告的反感。
體驗，不可小覷。

Recruitment Agency - ProJob21
I quit my job at Swire Coca-Cola Hong Kong on 06 December 2005.
It was not a bold decision, because I really have had enough with Kenneth Leung, or my then immediate supervisor. He acted as if he was a nice guy, but everyone in the department knew that he was just a great pretender. Sales dropped significantly since his arrival in November 2004. He attributed the poor results to the bad working attitude of the team heads. However, he’s the department head and he's in charge. Shouldn’t he be the one accountable for the morale of the department? He was just full of non-sense.
Let bygones be bygones.
This was not the first time I resigned from a company. In the last 10 years, I’ve basically worked for more than 15 companies. I’ve learned that the size of company doesn’t really matter. What matters most is your relationship with your immediate supervisor. Even if the company sucks, you can still get job satisfaction as long as your boss appreciates your efforts and supports you all the way.
That’s People Touchpoint!
I didn’t have a job before my resignation. It’s a very risky decision, because I’d end up jobless after my resignation. In fact, that was the case - I was jobless for two months. During these two months, I started to run my own business. I met a lot of business people from both software and training industries, and I learned a lot from our discussions.
“Expect the worst, hope for the best.”
Life without a job is always tough, but somehow I managed to survive. I may not be the fittest, but I just somehow survived.
Still, it’s always to have a job than none, especially when I got no income from the newly start-up business. From friend’s referral, I got my current job with PCCW, a leading telecommunications company in Hong Kong, as a training consultant.
Having been a sales and marketing person for more than 10 years, switching to a totally different field is not easy, but again I managed to survive.
During the jobless days, I contacted a number of recruitment agencies in Hong Kong – ProJob 21, Bo Le, Michael Page, Drake, Robert Walters, and quite a few more. No recruitment agency could offer any useful assistance when I needed them the most. I got the PCCW job not with their help but a referral from a friend.
After I secured the job with PCCW, ProJob 21 and Bo Le called and said they got some good jobs for me.
I usually won’t reject any interesting opportunities. ProJob 21 referred me to interview with AC Nielsen, as an Associate Director.
I passed the first round of interview, with support from ProJob 21. The consultant named Victoria was very helpful in the initial stage, but her attitude changed completely in the second round of the interview, which required me to do a presentation. I emailed my presentation to Victoria for comments. But she never replied, which was within expectation. After all, what do you expect those consultants to do? It’s lucky that they remember you, call you, and ask you if you are interested in blah blah blah… Then after the presentation interview, I waited and waited and waited for the final round.
No calls thereafter.
I called to follow up and they didn’t return call.
They care about you most when they need to submit applications to their clients. When the screening process is done, and some brilliant candidates are being short-listed, then the abandoned candidates are brutally ignored even if they take the initiative to follow up with the interviewing results.
ProJob 21. Victoria. Thank you for giving me hope.
